Research for my books has taken me down more than a few rabbit holes inhabited by “conspiracy theorists”. I have to tell you, they have some really interesting points. We live in a time when the term “conspiracy theorist” has an extremely negative connotation, but if we separate out the social meme from the truth, we may find that there is a lot to be learned down those rabbit holes.
Work with me for a moment, what is the opposite of a conspiracy theorist? A coincidence theorist. But is a coincidence theorist any less subject to a set of beliefs than a conspiracy theorist? Frankly, I don’t think so. They have just chosen to believe that there is no underlying untold story behind major world events. But I have to wonder if coincidence theorists believe the same things about their own lives. Do they really believe they know every plan of the presidents of their companies? Do they keep no secrets from their children … plans and goals they haven’t shared with their families? I doubt it. If the president of your company has motives and goals of which you are unaware, wouldn’t it be logical to assume the same of presidents of nations? Of the most powerful and wealthy in society?
What if the people in power have agendas, plans, and goals they haven’t shared with us? If they did, how would we know? We would only be able to tell when too many coincidences align to give us a hint. So, was it a coincidence that The Patriot Act was written and ready to go on September 12, 2001? I don’t know. Was it a coincidence that the Federal Reserve Act was written by bankers and sneaked through Congress while most members were on their way home for Christmas break? I don’t know.
Are you a Christian? Do you believe there was a plan from the foundation of the world? Or do you believe that some chemicals happened to be near each other and then coalesced into one of the few amino acids forming the genetic alphabet? Then several of these amino acids happened coincidentally to form the most efficient and compact information storage system ever known. Really? Without any help? And where did the encoded information come from? The odds are astronomically against such a string of coincidences.
Maybe there is a plan that isn’t readily transparent to us. Maybe we have to look at coincidental events to see the Planner and His intent.
That’s what the This Generation Series is all about. The conspiracies of men mirroring the conspiracies of the Creator. Everything can’t be a coincidence, but it’s only in the synergies of apparent coincidence that we find the patterns underneath. All the patterns may not be evidence of conspiracy, but the patterns exist.
