Make no mistake, I’m a Christian ,and I have defaulted to Christian prophecy all my life. Notwithstanding, a few years ago I was taken with similarities between the Bible’s predictions and those of other cultures. It all started for me with the Mayan calendar’s countdown to December 21, 2012. That date, much ballyhooed by the media has come and gone. Since then I have read that the specific date was not so much significant as a point in time as it was a marker for the beginning of a new era.
Intrigued by the Mayans, I then learned that Hopi Indian prophecy also targeted this timeframe as significant for the end of an age. Hopi prophecy calls for signs in the heavens referred to as the blue kachina, followed by the red kachina. Nobody knows for sure what they are, but the Hopi maintain they will be startling signs visible to all. I found this interesting in light of Jesus’ prophecy about signs in the heavens in the Last Days.
Then there are updated translations of Sumerian writings of a cyclical pattern of destruction emanating from the “planet of the crossing”. Some refer to it as Nemesis; some refer to it as Nibiru. Looking at these writings with scientific minds of the 21st Century, this tale seems to be saying the following: The sun, like most other stars, is not singular, but part of a binary system. In other words, when the sun formed, it had a twin. Not an identical twin, but a smaller fraternal twin. So small, in fact that it never really ignited into a full-fledged star, but rather smoldered as what is now known as a red or brown dwarf. These types of stars do not give off much visible light, but are hot in the infrared spectrum. Our solar twin is given the designation, Nemesis. Like our sun, Nemesis formed with planets, one of which is a blue world called Nibiru. There is a curious thing about heavenly bodies of uneven mass locked in a rotation–they rotate around the center of gravity between them. This results in the lighter member of the pair moving in a long trajectory with the heavier member bobbling about just a bit. In this scenario, Nemesis would have a large elliptical orbit taking it far away from the sun for most of its orbit. But every once in a while, (the Nibiru theorists claim it is every 3,600 years) the solar twin’s orbit would bring it close to the sun. Of course it would drag its planets with it.
When this system comes closest to the sun, we would first see in the sky Nibiru—the blue kachina, followed by its much larger star, Nemesis—the red kachina. The passing of these objects, according to the timeframes of this theory, would coincide with some very remarkable times in history such as the flood of Noah and the flight of the Israelites from ancient Egypt.
So then, the question is: Does God use natural events to bring about His will? Frankly, I think he does. Curiously, the events of the Book of Revelation tell of a time when the sun will not give its light (eclipsed by Nemesis?), there will be scorching heat (the sun’s electromagnetic interplay with its solar twin?), and a violent shaking of the earth such that no mountain is left in its place. Nibiru theorists claim that the interaction of a large body coming to the inner solar system would be a pole shift on Earth. Our world is currently oriented magnetically to the sun. The interloper could conceivably form an attraction of its south pole to our north pole. Earth being the far lighter of the two, it would reel in a crustal displacement to reposition its poles in orientation to Nemesis, only to reorient itself to the sun once the interloper has passed. This sounds amazingly similar to the prophet Isaiah’s prediction (Chapter 24, verse 20) that the Earth will reel like a drunkard. Some consider this theory to be nothing more than the random speculation of people who don’t have the good sense to follow Dancing with the Stars, but I would turn their attention to a man named Bob Fletcher. He was an investigator frequently hired by members of Congress until he followed the money trail behind the sudden deficit trillions of dollars. He found evidence of the elite siphoning off money to prepare shelters to protect themselves against this coming disaster. Check him out at www.bobfletcherinvestigations.com.
The culture of Islam speaks of the appearance of the Mahdi. Walid Shoebat, a former Muslim terrorist who subsequently became a Christian, maintains that the prophecies dovetail with Christian prophecies, but from an opposing point of view. In 2012, Pew Research conducted a study of Muslims in 23 nations and found that a surprising 42%, about 672 million, suspect the Mahdi’s appearance is imminent. You can check out Shoebat’s findings at www.shoebat.com.
In the final analysis, I believe the Bible’s prophecies are 100% accurate, but I am amazed at the parallel beliefs from other cultures. Could they all be recalling something from our dim past such as the periodic upset of the inner solar system by a wandering intruder? Could the Lord use such a periodic upheaval to bring about His judgment on Earth? It sure is interesting to me.
And what’s the likelihood that so many different cultures would point to this particular moment in time for the fulfillment of their prophecies? You see, I think we all have this sense that something is afoot. That’s what the This Generation Series is all about.
